Step-by-Step Procedure
Follow these verified steps in chronological sequence to avoid common administrative delays or fines:
Step 1: Identify Your Bay's Orange & Blue Signboard
Locate the nearest Parkin signpost. The signboard displays the zone letter (A, B, C, or D) and a 3-digit or 4-digit parking area code (e.g. 332A or 123C). Premium zones carrying high demand are designated with a 'P' (such as AP or BP).
Step 2: Note the Chargeable Timings Window
Paid parking is enforced Monday through Saturday from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM without midday interruption. Overnight parking is completely free between 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM. Sundays and official UAE federal public holidays are free throughout Dubai.
Step 3: Choose Payment Channel (App, SMS, WhatsApp, Nol)
Pay using the Parkin mobile app, RTA Dubai app, SMS to 7275, RTA WhatsApp automated service (+971 58 800 9090), physical coin/Nol card parking meters, or Apple Pay.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Confusing Dubai Parkin with Abu Dhabi Mawaqif or Sharjah Municipal Parking — permits and SMS codes are strictly non-transferable across emirate borders.
- Parking across two bays or overstepping yellow demarcation lines, which incurs a steep AED 200 fine even if you paid for the parking ticket.
- Assuming parking is free during Friday prayers: Friday is a paid parking day in Dubai (only Sunday is free).
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Standard public street parking and surface lots managed by Parkin are completely free of charge on Sundays throughout Dubai, unless a specific special event or private development restriction applies.
No. Roadside bays (Zones A and C) enforce a maximum stay limit of 4 consecutive hours to prevent vehicle stagnation in commercial and residential streets. Surface lots (Zones B and D) allow full-day 24-hour parking.
Parkin allows an automated 10-minute grace period after your paid time expires. If you do not extend your ticket within 10 minutes, mobile camera enforcement vehicles will issue an AED 150 expired ticket fine.
Vehicles registered with green electric vehicle plates benefit from designated free green parking bays in select RTA facilities and municipal locations, subject to RTA EV permit guidelines.
Parkin operates dedicated smart enforcement patrol vehicles fitted with 360-degree high-speed optical license plate recognition (ALPR) cameras that scan parked plates and verify digital payment status against central cloud servers in real time.
